Worthing parkrun is on for Christmas Day 2026 but not New Year's Day. Littlehampton, Bognor and Hove Promenade run on 1 January; Lancing runs neither day.

Worthing parkrun is on for Christmas Day, Friday 25 December 2026, but not for New Year’s Day. That is according to parkrun’s own table of Christmas and New Year events, which lists Worthing with a tick for 25 December and a cross for 1 January.

The quick answer

  • Christmas Day, Friday 25 December: Worthing parkrun is on. Littlehampton Prom, Bognor Regis, Chichester and Horsham are also on.
  • New Year’s Day, Friday 1 January: Worthing is not running. The nearest events that are: Hove Promenade, Littlehampton Prom, Bevendean Down, Bognor Regis, Chichester and Horsham.
  • Lancing Beach Green runs on neither day, but holds its usual Saturday events on 26 December and 2 January.
  • Start time: Worthing has not yet posted a time for Christmas Day. Its Saturday events start at 9am, with the briefing at 8.50am.
  • Only one counts: parkrun records only one result per person on each of these days, so you cannot do two on Christmas morning for two results.

Worthing parkrun on Christmas Day

The parkrun special events table lists every event that has declared whether it will stage a run on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On 2 November 2026 Worthing parkrun had a tick for Christmas Day 2026 and a cross for New Year’s Day 2027. parkrun says a tick means the event will take place and a cross means it will not, and points runners to each event’s own news page for details.

Worthing’s news page had no Christmas post on 2 November, so the start time on the day is not yet published. We will add it when the team posts it.

The course is the usual one, according to Worthing parkrun’s course page:

  • Where: Worthing promenade, Brighton Road, BN11 2EN. The start line is in the Splash Point area between Splashpoint Leisure Centre and the pier.
  • Meet: on the shingle beach next to the promenade for the briefing, at 8.50am on a normal Saturday.
  • The route: flat, all tarmac, out and back along the promenade, finishing next to Splashpoint Leisure Centre.
  • Toilets: along the promenade, including at the Lido and the Pavilion.
  • Cost: free, but you must register once with parkrun before your first run and bring a scannable barcode. Worthing runs a no barcode, no result policy.

The event discourages driving because parking near the start is limited. The course is close to both Worthing and East Worthing stations, the event says. Check Southern’s Christmas timetable before you rely on a train on 25 December: our Christmas travel page has the latest.

New Year’s Day: where to run instead

Worthing is not staging a New Year’s Day run. Hove Promenade is the nearest confirmed event: its team posted on 12 October that it will run on Friday 1 January 2027, with its normal Saturday event the next day, and it has asked for extra volunteers to cover both (Hove Promenade parkrun news).

Distances are the ones Worthing parkrun’s own page gives for its nearby events. “Not declared” means the team has not yet said either way. Junior parkruns, for 4 to 14 year olds, do not appear above: the nearby junior events listed either show a cross for both days or have not declared.

Lancing Beach Green parkrun posted on 13 October that it will not hold special events on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, and will run as usual on Saturday 26 December 2026 and Saturday 2 January 2027.

Is Worthing parkrun running at the moment?

Worthing parkrun paused from mid-September because the next phase of the Worthing Heat Network works disrupted the promenade and the start of the course. Its news post of 16 September said the pause would run up to October half term. parkrun’s cancellations list did not include Worthing for Saturday 7 November when we checked on 2 November. Check that list on the morning, as Worthing was cancelled three times in October when the course was unsafe or blocked.
