A new independent fiction bookshop is open at 45 Warwick Street. It trades Wednesday to Sunday, with a children's bookseller in on Saturdays.
Worthing has a new independent bookshop. Tilly’s Bookshop opened at 45 Warwick Street at the weekend, and its website now reads “Tilly’s Is Now Open!”.
It is a fiction-first shop. The shop’s own description says the shelves hold:
- a large selection of handpicked fiction
- reader favourites and popular classics
- children’s books
- a small non-fiction section
- gifts and stationery
Opening day
Saturday was opening day. In a post on the shop’s Instagram on Monday morning, the owners thanked the authors who “braved that weather to sign copies of their books” on the day. They also thanked everyone who “came in, chatted to us, browsed, shared online or bought a book (or 10!)”.
The children’s and young adult shelves were chosen by a dedicated children’s bookseller. The shop says she will mostly be in on Saturdays, for anyone after a recommendation for younger readers.
Who is Tilly?
The shop is named after its owner. Its Our Story page says Tilly has “years of experience working in bookshops and sharing reviews online”. The shop says it was born from “a serious love of fiction” and that it opened “after years of dreaming”.
